Sri Lanka, April 29 -- In preparation for the forthcoming Vesak festival, the Public Health Inspectorate has released a series of general health and safety protocols focusing primarily on the management ofDansals—temporary food distribution points established during these festivities.
According to the Food Act No. 26 of 1980, Dansals are classified as provisional locations for preparing and selling food. However, the Public Health Inspectorate has expressed worries that certain Dansals might be providing meals and drinks under unsanitary conditions, which could result in instances of food-related diseases and water pollution.
To reduce these risks, all events called Dansals held under the Public Health Inspectorate’s authority must closely follow the recently released guidelines. Officials have stated that anyDansals not complying with cleanliness rules risk being immediately canceled.
These steps are designed to guarantee the security and welfare of everyone participating in the Vesak celebrations.
