Students and Professors Get 90% Medical Coverage via TU Fund

KATHMANDU, June 20 -- The Ministry of Health, together with Tribhuvan University (TU), has agreed to offer medical services to both TU students and staff at federal healthcare centers and institutions.

As per the accord signed under the observation of Health and Population Ministry Chief Pradip Paudel and Tribhuvan University Chancellor Dr Khadga KC, healthcare services will be offered across all federal facilities and organizations. The funding model allocates 90% coverage through TU’s medical fund and requires a 10% personal payment from individuals.

The accord further specifies that TU will promote its staff and pupils to participate in healthcare coverage programs.

At the event, Minister Paudel announced that the government had already resolved to include every individual from the organized sector within the Health Insurance Fund. He encouraged TU to make sure all of its members sign up in the upcoming days so they can receive health insurance advantages. The minister showed faith thatTUwould swiftly finish the required preparatory work for this program.

Minister Paudel emphasized the continuous initiatives to bolster the health insurance scheme through enhanced funding and policy adjustments. He stated that involving faculty members and students from Tribhuvan University (TU) would convey a constructive signal.

The Health Ministry Secretary, Dilli Ram Sharma, showed faith in the successful execution of the accord.

The TU Vice Chancellor, Dr. Khadga KC, stated that the enrollment process for participants in the health insurance scheme has been initiated and disclosed the establishment of a task force for this purpose. Additionally, he highlighted future intentions to strengthen collaboration between the university and the ministry in areas such as education and healthcare.
