The UAE faces increasing pressures on its healthcare system due to rising cancer cases, even as ongoing initiatives aim to enhance medical services and accessibility, according to BMI.

Although the nation has attempted to update its healthcare system via increased government investment, as well as compulsory health insurance, public-private partnerships The increasing load is anticipated to put pressure on system capabilities, notably within the field of oncology.

"The 2023 Cancer Incidence Report for the UAE indicates that there were a total of 7,098 new diagnoses of invasive malignancies, along with 389 cases classified as in situ," the document stated.

The workforce shortage will be significant, with a National Library of Medicine study predicting just 100 medical oncologists in the UAE by August 2022.

A majority of experts are located in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. As a result, this imbalance is anticipated to lead more patients to travel to significant urban centers.
