First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu has opened a 30-bed Primary Health Centre within the Ikoyi-Obalende Local Council Development Area in Lagos State.
The state-of-the-art medical center, constructed by the local authority, was opened in her absence by the spouse of the Deputy President, Hajia Nana Shettima.
Praising the council for the initiative, Tinubu stated that it would improve access to medical services in the region.
She further mentioned that the initiative corresponds with the current government's goals, focusing on making healthcare accessible and affordable for every Nigerian.
This initiative supports the New Hope Vision led by His Excellence, President Bola Tinubu, focusing on the health and welfare of every Nigerian, particularly women and children.
I praise the Executive Chairman, Mr Fuad Lawal, for his dedication to community growth. This PHC serves as an example of how effective and citizen-focused leadership ought to look. This initiative goes beyond current needs, looking towards tomorrow.
Senator Tinubu expressed gratitude to the council for recognizing her by dedicating the building in her name, encouraging locals to assume responsibility for the center to make sure it fulfills its intended role.
"I call upon healthcare professionals, local leaders, and members of this community to embrace responsibility for this center. Additionally, I appreciate the chairman for dedicating it in my name," she stated.
The wife of the Lagos State governor, Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, referred to the initiative as proof of the Strategic Local Government Autonomy Policy launched by President Tinubu, noting that it represents a major milestone in Nigeria's democratic development.
Currently, we are seeing the benefits of the Strategic Local Government Autonomy Policy, officially launched by His Excellency President Tinubu, marking a crucial milestone in Nigeria's democratic development.
"Lagos State fully supports this policy, and we praise the wise guidance provided by the Ikoyi-Obalende LCDA. The council’s innovative and long-term projects have greatly enhanced the living standards of the local population," she stated.
Doctor Sanwo-Olu also commended the Executive Chairman of the LCDA, Fuad Lawal, for his accomplishments in improving infrastructure, promoting economic growth, generating employment opportunities, and enhancing social well-being, highlighting that his leadership has made the LCDA a more lively and advanced area.
The chairman, Lawal, referred to the clinic as one of the significant initiatives completed since he took up his position in 2017.
The PHC will benefit the whole community by offering timely healthcare services. The courageous economic policies implemented by President Tinubu, including the elimination of fuel subsidies and the establishment of local government independence, significantly contributed to the completion of this initiative.
"We hold the belief that genuine leadership is practical and achievable, and I am confident that my replacement will build upon everything we've established for our citizens," he further stated.
