Akatsi (VR), May 5, GNA - The Women’s Ministry at the Agorve District of the Church of Pentecost located in Akatsi South within the Volta Region organized a complimentary health screening event for church members.
The event, conducted at the Church’s Central Auditorium, included skill-building sessions like learning about bridal fashion, fascinators, and more.
Dr. Michael Dovlo, who works as a medical house officer at Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital and is also part of the local church congregation, stated that all participants had undergone the essential examinations needed for their health and safety.
These, he said, include blood pressure, fasting blood sugar, basic hearing assessment, visual acuity, and others.
Dr. Dovlo noted that certain participants, particularly farmers, experienced problems like overall bodily discomfort, while others grappled with high blood pressure.
He mentioned that the occurrence of hypertension arose due to 'not following prescribed antihypertensive treatments.'
Dr. Dovlo additionally urged for changes in daily habits including consistent physical activity and medical examinations, along with following health guidelines and other recommendations.
Mrs. Angela Kpeli, the spouse of the District Pastor at the Church and head of the health team, emphasized that this initiative continues to be a vital endeavor for ensuring the overall wellness of congregation members.
She mentioned that the activity would continue indefinitely and would be accessible to everyone, regardless of whether they were Church members or not.
Mrs. Kpeli, who also works as a health provider in the municipality, showed her appreciation to the members of the Women’s Ministry for their assistance.
She also showed gratitude to the management of the Akatsi Municipal Hospital for helping the church in offering free medication to the participants.
When speaking with the Ghana News Agency, several participants voiced their worries regarding the necessity of adjusting to routine health examinations for maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
They expressed their gratitude to the church leaders and the Women’s Wing for the affection demonstrated towards them.
The Agorve District of the Church, led by Reverend Prosper Kpeli, has been undertaking significant initiatives to spread the message of faith across all segments of society.
