Gujarat Shines: 34% Drop in New TB Cases, 37% Mortality Cut – Top 'Most Improved State'

Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], July 11 (ANI): Gujarat has achieved notable progress in fighting against tuberculosis ( TB ), resulting in a 34% drop in new cases and a 37% decrease in death rates when measured against 2015. Such significant improvement has placed the state at the pinnacle of the "Top Performing State" classification.

Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat convened a gathering on Friday alongside Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel. Raj Bhavan involving senior officers from the Department of Health and Family Welfare, and carefully examined the initiatives underway under the TB Campaign for Free India in Gujarat.

As per the official statement, Governor Devvrat called on the officers to approach the initiative to transform Gujarat with seriousness. TB - free as a mass movement. He recommended they not display any leniency in TB taking charge of initiatives and approaching goals with dedication, alongside increasing overall understanding of TB among the public.

Head of Government Bhupendra Patel directed the staff to carry out their duties in an organized fashion for TB removal. He further proposed that a framework needs to be created to guarantee that nutritional packages arrive at all TB patient.

In line with the decision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India aspires to become TB - free by 2025. Therefore, the Health and Family Welfare Department under the Gujarat government is handling this matter with great dedication. In comparison to other states, Gujarat is experiencing a consistent reduction in the number of new cases. TB patients, the official statement said.

In comparison to 2015, Gujarat experienced a 34% decrease in new cases. TB incidents along with a 37% reduction in death rates during 2023. Because of this success, the Indian government has recognized Gujarat as the top state in the 'Most Improved State' classification.

Up until now this year, 65,471 TB Patients have been enrolled. The Health Department continues to monitor and provide treatment regularly. TB Patients, making sure they get healthy meals. This year, 60,199 nutritional packages have been provided by 10,910 Nikshay Mitras ( TB supporters) in the state.

Senior officers from the Health Department, including Additional Chief Secretary Dhananjay Dwivedi, Additional Secretary to the Governor Ashok Sharma, Secretary to the Chief Minister Dr Vikrant Pandey, Urban Health Regulator Dr Harshad Patel, Rural Health Regulator Dr Ratankuwar Gadhvicharan, and other high-ranking personnel attended the gathering held at Raj Bhavan .
